Heather Kaufman, DPM, FACFAS
Dr. Kaufman completed her undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, earning her B.A. in Journalism with a minor in Marketing. After graduation, she decided to pursue her real passion which was medicine. She went back to school, completing her pre-medical coursework at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA.
She then attended the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, OH and received her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) in 2003. She then completed four years of podiatric residency training in New York City and Hammonton, NJ, receiving her certificate of completion from William B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton, NJ in June, 2007.
From there, Dr. Kaufman moved to Grand Junction, CO where she was in a private group practice for 6 ½ years. During that time, she received her Board Certification in Foot Surgery from the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (ABPS). She eventually decided to venture out on her own, and in March 2014 she purchased Anchorage Foot & Ankle Clinic, LLC and began her own private solo practice in April, 2014.
While she enjoys all aspects of podiatric practice, Dr. Kaufman particularly enjoys surgery, wound care, and diabetic limb salvage, the latter two of which are her sub-specialties.
Dr. Kaufman is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), Colorado Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA), and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS).
Dr. Kaufman is married. She and her husband are the proud parents of two cats and a dog.
When she is not working, Dr. Kaufman enjoys running, hiking, camping, cycling, travel, downhill skiing, and is learning how to cross country ski. She is extremely excited about her new adventure here in Alaska and looks forward to exploring this magnificent state.
